The Las Cruces Bulldawgs won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 68-40 loss at the hands of Alamogordo. Las Cruces was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
When it comes to explaining why Las Cruces lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bethzy Quinones. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with five rebounds. Danae Pacheco was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Alamogordo found their leader in underclassman Elizabeth Needham, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 19 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Needham has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Vazquez, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds.
Las Cruces' loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Alamogordo, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Las Cruces will be playing in front of their home fans against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Cruces is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for Alamogordo, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gadsden at 6:30 p.m. Alamogordo is facing Gadsden at the right time seeing as Gadsden is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
