There's no place like home for the South River Rams, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 57-47 victory over Metuchen on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for South River, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Alex Grospe, who scored 38 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of South River's points. Anthony Costa was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Metuchen lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jason Woods, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ben Santus, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
South River's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Metuchen, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Timothy Christian the next time they take the court. South River will host Timothy Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Metuchen will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
