Washington faced Morgantown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mohigans a 6-0 shutout. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Jaxton Earl's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trace Hough, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cooper Shillingburg, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Washington has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Morgantown, their record is now 11-8.

Looking ahead, Washington will head out on the road to face off against Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Morgantown, they will take on Huntington at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
