Chilton has gone 9-1 against Kiel recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Chilton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Chilton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Winnebago Lutheran Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.
Macey Schneider spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lauren Roehrig made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Grenzer, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Kiel gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Marinette with a sharp 15-4 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kiel got a massive performance out of Eleanor Tillman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That hit was Tillman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Rolkosky, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Kiel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marinette only posted a batting average of .240.
Kiel's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Chilton, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Chilton came out on top in a nail-biter against Kiel in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
