The South Bend Clay Colonials's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Mishawaka. South Bend Clay has not had much luck with Mishawaka recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
South Bend Clay lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maliya Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kira Miller, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, South Bend Clay were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
South Bend Clay bumped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Mishawaka, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
South Bend Clay will look to defend their home court on Thursday against South Bend Adams at 7:30 p.m. As for Mishawaka, they will head out on the road to face off against Concord at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
