Baseball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Creek Wood's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Creek Wood unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions, falling 12-5. The Red Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Koen Herrell and Brody Butts stepped up to the plate in a big way. Herrell scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Butts scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Butts a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Brady Ferrell, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Creek Wood's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Christ Presbyterian Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Creek Wood will host Sycamore at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Sycamore's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Creek Wood's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Christ Presbyterian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beech at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Christ Presbyterian Academy has won six straight at home, while Beech won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
