After losing to the Socastee Braves the last time they met, the Christian Academy Saints decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Christian Academy walked away with a 35-28 win over Socastee on Monday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Christian Academy.
Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grace Owens, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The game was Owens' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Payton Rumley was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bri Smith, who scored eight points along with nine blocks. Those nine blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Anna Reese Pratt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Socastee, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Academy will take on Florence Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Florence Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Socastee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sumter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sumter is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
