The Marshall Academy Griffons lost against the Tekonsha Indians back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Marshall Academy's rough 65-43 defeat to the Indians might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marshall Academy in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.
Marshall Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Taylor, who scored 27 points along with three steals. That was a full 62.8% of Marshall Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Poindexter, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Tekonsha's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reagan Henry, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Henry posted eight or more assists. Addison Griffith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Marshall Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Tekonsha, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. Pansophia Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Tekonsha, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
