The Morris Catholic Crusaders will face off against the Red Bank Catholic Caseys at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Red Bank Catholic will be up against a hot Morris Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Crusaders blew past Madison 14-2 on Monday.
Sofia Reisinger was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Savannah Mead, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Red Bank Catholic entered their tilt with Freehold Township on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots a 16-0 shutout. With that win, the Caseys brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Mackenna Savage and Lily Hagan made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Savage tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hagan struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Savage went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Hagan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI. That home run marked the first that Savage has launched this season.
In other batting news, Red Bank Catholic got a massive performance out of Jayden Kane, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Lombardi, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Red Bank Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Red Bank Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Morris Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both Morris Catholic and Red Bank Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Crusaders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Red Bank Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Morris Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Red Bank Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Caseys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
