While Tulare Union's victory against Porterville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Tulare Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Porterville on Thursday, sneaking past 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tribe have posted since March 7th.
Jiannah Freitas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Freitas was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, KaiLee Gilbert was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Kayloni Cox also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Tulare Union lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Coalinga suffered their closest loss since March 14, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Sierra Pacific by a score of 10-8. The Horned Toads' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Tulare Union is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. Coalinga's loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
