The Monrovia Bulldogs will take on the Eminence Eels at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Monrovia barely beat Bedford North Lawrence the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Stars 14-3 on Saturday. 14 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Lyla Wirey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kenzie Nees was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brylee Stwalley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Monrovia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bedford North Lawrence only managed seven.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Eminence made sure to put some runs up on the board against Waldron on Monday. The Eels were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Mohawks. Considering the Eels have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Monrovia is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Eminence, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Monrovia beat Eminence 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
