This season hasn't been kind to the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles, who are still winless after their fifth match. They fell 53-44 to Wheeler on Friday. The contest was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but Lake Station Edison was outscored by Wheeler in the second.
Wheeler's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicholas Scott led the charge by scoring 19 points. Scott hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Rife, who scored 16 points.
Lake Station Edison has fallen quite a ways from their 22-4 record last season and are now at 0-5. As for Wheeler, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Lake Station Edison will head out on the road to face off against Bowman Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bowman Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. Wheeler will be home for the holidays to greet Tippecanoe Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
