After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marissa/Coulterville, the Valmeyer Pirates were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Maryville Christian with a 60-54 win. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Valmeyer considering their 23-point performance the matchup before.
Leading Valmeyer to victory were Brooke Miller and Kierstin Miller. Miller dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 rebounds, while Miller dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Proffer, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Valmeyer's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Maryville Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valmeyer's road trip will continue as they head out to face Steeleville at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. As for Maryville Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southwestern at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Southwestern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday.
