On Thursday, the Archbishop Carroll Lions faced the St. John's Cadets in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Archbishop Carroll came out on top against St. John's by a score of 55-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for Archbishop Carroll.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Diyyah Eatmon, who scored 14 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Duncan, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why St. John's lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyndal Walker. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Morgan Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Archbishop Carroll's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.8 points. As for St. John's, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2.
Archbishop Carroll will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Paul VI at 6:00 p.m. Paul VI is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for St. John's, they will square off against Rutgers Prep at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Rutgers Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully St. John's likes a good challenge.
