Clifton-Clyde is 2-7 against Valley Heights since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Clifton-Clyde Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Heights Mustangs. Hopefully Clifton-Clyde focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Clifton-Clyde put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Onaga 61-32 at home. Given Clifton-Clyde's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Onaga is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clifton-Clyde to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sevy Wurtz, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wurtz hasn't dropped below 15 points for 11 straight games. Shea Wurtz was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Valley Heights unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Centralia 54-50.
Clifton-Clyde is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season. As for Valley Heights, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
Clifton-Clyde strolled past Valley Heights in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 56-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clifton-Clyde since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
