The Fossil Ridge SaberCats are taking a road trip to face off against the ThunderRidge Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fossil Ridge has five straight victories, ThunderRidge has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Fossil Ridge beats ThunderRidge with 11 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The SaberCats put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 11-2 win on Thursday. Considering the SaberCats have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Vedant Sharma looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Fossil Ridge let Mason Griffin and Luc Gaca-Thiele run wild. Griffin went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Gaca-Thiele went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Matt Lang was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.
Chaparral hit ThunderRidge with a six-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies lost 13-3 to the Wolverines. Surprisingly, this marked the Grizzlies' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Shane Christy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Santomo, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fossil Ridge's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for ThunderRidge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
Fossil Ridge's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The SaberCats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for ThunderRidge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fossil Ridge continue to outrun the ball?
