The Montgomery County Indians will take on Great Crossing at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Great Crossing will be up against a hot Montgomery County team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Indians' way against George Rogers Clark on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ryleigh Martin made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Montgomery County got a massive performance out of Madison Cox, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Cox has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilliana Hill, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Montgomery County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Crossing). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Western Hills a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. Great Crossing hasn't had any issues with Western Hills recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Kyleigh Harrison's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Sutton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Aubrey Green was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Montgomery County's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Great Crossing, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Great Crossing's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Montgomery County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. It's a different story for Great Crossing, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Montgomery County's hitters?
Montgomery County came out on top in a nail-biter against Great Crossing in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do Great Crossing have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
