The Seneca Fighting Irish put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They really took it to St. Bede for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-35 win at home. The result was nothing new for Seneca, who have now won six matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Seneca was led to victory by Paxton Giertz and Asher Hamby. Giertz rushed for 154 yards on only seven carries, while Hamby rushed for 228 yards while picking up 14.3 yards per carry. Giertz's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.
Defeat or not, St. Bede got some senior leadership from Max Bray who threw for 346 yards and five touchdowns and Alex Ankiewicz who picked up 160 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Seneca's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points per game. As for St. Bede, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Seneca will be playing at home against Dwight/Gardner-South Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dwight/Gardner-South Wilmington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Seneca is ranked 85th). St. Bede is on the road again on Saturday and play against Chicago Hope Academy at 2:00 p.m. on October 28th. Chicago Hope Academy will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
