If the Blackduck Drakes were feeling good off their 71-30 takedown of the Lake of the Woods Bears last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Blackduck suffered a tough 68-43 defeat at the hands of Kelliher/Northome on Thursday. Blackduck has not had much luck with Kelliher/Northome recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Kelliher/Northome's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kate Thayer, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Thayer is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Lundin, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Blackduck's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Kelliher/Northome, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Blackduck will take on Red Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kelliher/Northome, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chisholm at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. One thing working in Chisholm's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
