Desert Mountain has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Notre Dame Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Desert Mountain is ranked 13th, while Notre Dame Prep is ranked 28th).
Last Friday, Desert Mountain was beaten by Higley 58-21.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Bryce Herges, who rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 172 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Tapley, who picked up 143 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Prep was the victim of a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North on Friday.
Noah Trigueros put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns.
Desert Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Notre Dame Prep, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Desert Mountain couldn't quite finish off Notre Dame Prep in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 and fell 20-17. Can Desert Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
