Logan Webb and Parker Gay did most of the damage at the plate: Webb went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Gay went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Webb a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Ayers, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
SouthWest Edgecombe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farmville Central only posted a batting average of .286.
Meanwhile, Greene Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-6 win.
Riley Radford was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Greene Central is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Radford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other batting news, Greene Central let Sutton Harris and Trey Eatmon run wild. Harris went 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Eatmon scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those hits marked the first that Eatmon got this season.
Greene Central's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their record now sits at 6-1.
