Softball Recap: San Jose Wins Going Away Against Overfelt

San Jose made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Overfelt, but they still couldn't quite topple them. San Jose was the clear victor by an 18-2 margin over Overfelt on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Genesis Davila was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Davila is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Juliana Castellanos-Patricio was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

San Jose is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. Overfelt is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, San Jose will challenge James Lick at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Overfelt, they will face off against Yerba Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Yerba Buena has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.25 runs per game on average), something Overfelt will no doubt try to take advantage of.
