Basketball Recap: Uwharrie Charter Academy Comes Up Short

Uwharrie Charter Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 77-27 loss at the hands of the Ambassador Christian School Lions on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 77 points in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the loss, Uwharrie Charter Academy still got an impressive performance from Jaxon Mabe, who posted six points along with eight boards and seven assists. Mabe is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Aaron Smith was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Ambassador Christian School had a senior duo take command as Dylan Deluca made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks and JD Bowden went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deluca has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Brown, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Ambassador Christian School, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
