It was a good run, but the Twentynine Palms Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. The contest between Twentynine Palms and Indio wasn't particularly close, with Twentynine Palms falling 81-62. Twentynine Palms has not had much luck with Indio recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Twentynine Palms had strong showings from Ayden O'Gilvie, who scored nine points along with 17 rebounds and seven steals, and Brandon Evans, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Carevon Powell, who scored eight points.
Twentynine Palms' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-13. As for Indio, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Twentynine Palms will take on Desert Hot Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Desert Hot Springs has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. Indio will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Yucca Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Yucca Valley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
