Lynnfield is 2-7 against Newburyport since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lynnfield Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Newburyport Clippers at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lynnfield had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged Essex Tech out 34-32.
Meanwhile, Newburyport took their contest on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 61-29 win over Amesbury. The win made it back-to-back wins for Newburyport.
Lynnfield's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0. As for Newburyport, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Lynnfield took a serious blow against Newburyport in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 64-27. Can Lynnfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
