The Miami Beach Hi-Tides waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Homestead 60-46. This was payback for Miami Beach, who suffered a 66-64 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Despite the defeat, Homestead saw an underclassman step up: Rodney Holmes dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Holmes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Rodriguez, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Miami Beach pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Miami Beach will play host again and welcome Booker T. Washington, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Homestead won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Archbishop Carroll at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Archbishop Carroll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 577th, while Homestead is ranked 211th).
