The Davenport Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Depew 57-8. That's two games in a row now that Davenport has lost by exactly 49 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Depew to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Burdick, who threw for 200 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jess Smith, who picked up 107 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Davenport's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Depew, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davenport will take on Drumright at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Drumright knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Davenport likes a good challenge. As for Depew, they will head out on the road to face off against Regent Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Regent Prep is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
