Basketball Recap: Princeton Piles Up the Points Against Independence

Princeton waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 68-26 victory over the Independence Patriots. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Princeton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kalee Wright, who posted 20 points and three steals. Asia Collins was another key player, putting up two points in addition to ten assists, seven boards, and four steals.

Princeton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence only racked up four assists.

Despite the defeat, Independence saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lacey Goodson dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. That was a full 38.5% of Independence's points, marking the ninth time in a row Goodson has scored more than a third of the team's points. Khloe Moore also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Princeton's record is now 11-4. As for Independence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Princeton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-45 win against Nicholas County on the 13th. As for Independence, they have also already played their next game, a 52-45 victory against South Charleston on the 14th.
