Football Recap: Minersville Piles Up the Points Against Shenandoah Valley

Minersville won the last time they faced Shenandoah Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Battlin' Miners blew past the Blue Devils 49-6. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-0.

Minersville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paiten Lapoint, who picked up 55 receiving yards and two TDs. That's the most receiving touchdowns Lapoint has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Carr, who threw for 113 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.

Minersville's run defense was locked in: Shenandoah Valley could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. While four picked up at least three total tackles, Carr stood above the rest. He threw for 113 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Minersville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.4.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Minersville, adding 17 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Lapoint, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.

Minersville has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 32.5 points thus far. As for Shenandoah Valley, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
