Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wolfe City). They blew past the Sulphur Bluff Bears 17-1 on Tuesday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Hadlee Painter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, Lyric Sandlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hylee Crowell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Wolfe City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 13 hits in those games compared to only 5.31 in the others.
