The Surry Central Golden Eagles's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Wilkes. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Surry Central in their matchups with North Wilkes: they've now lost four in a row.
Surry Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Layla Wall, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Wall is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Jenna Cave was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
Surry Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for North Wilkes, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Surry Central will take on North Surry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Surry will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Surry Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Wilkes, they will be playing at home against Forbush at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Wilkes is coming into the matchup with five straight wins at home, so Forbush is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
