Knightstown had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Waldron Mohawks on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 17 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Carson Bonham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three contests. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Andrew Buchanan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
Bonham wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camden Gorman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another was Jackson Daves, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Knightstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waldron only posted an OBP of .211.
Knightstown is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Waldron, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-13.
As of now, neither Knightstown nor the Mohawks have any future games scheduled.
