The Liberty Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Cedarcrest Red Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Saturday, Liberty got the win against Franklin by a conclusive 20-3. That looming 20-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.
Liberty got a massive performance out of Sam Bell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Bell has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Matty Bligh, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cedarcrest unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Sultan by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Red Wolves couldn't push the score so high this time.
Cedarcrest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam DelCarmen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Liberty pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Cedarcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Liberty has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Cedarcrest struggles in that department as they've averaged .530. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedarcrest when the teams last played back in May of 2018, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Red Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
