1A South Central recap Oct. 16, 2012
Limon extended the longest winning streak in 1A South Central this week by beating Holyoke, 41-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Limon took down the Dragons 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gavin Liggett threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 187 yards in the win.
Las Animas's dynamic duo of Santiago Fernandez and Bubba Martinez proved tough for Crowley County to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fernandez threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns and Martinez had 78 yards receiving. Lonnie Skiles helped Las Animas' passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
CHARLES BUSTAMANTE made the biggest impact on defense this week as Rocky Ford topped Calhan. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed one sack.
Limon's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Badgers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Liggett has thrown for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Landon Stang has 15 catches for 403 yards. Chandler Dohe leads the league in rushing with 816 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Burlington takes on the Trojans. The Cougars are currently in third, while Las Animas is in fifth.
Burlington made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,954 from 8,160. The improvement was the result of 21-14 victory over Byers last week.
