Basketball Recap: East River Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mainland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East River). They wrapped up 2024 with a 74-60 win over the Mainland Buccaneers.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Beegie Gordon, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Manley, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds.

East River's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Mainland, they moved to 7-5 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East River will head out to face off against Trinity Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mainland, they will take on Hawthorne in a tournament on Saturday. Mainland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.1 points per game this season.
