Midlothian and Ennis are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2016, but likely not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Midlothian Panthers challenge Ennis Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ennis will be up against a hot Midlothian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Midlothian put the hurt on Kaufman with a sharp 20-4 win on Friday. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Abby Insley looked comfortable as she pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jocelyn Martinez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Givens, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Midlothian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kaufman only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Ennis had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with an 11-4 victory.
Breona Benavidez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Benavidez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Ennis got a massive performance out of Kaycee Slovak, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Analisa Salazar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Midlothian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Ennis, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Midlothian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Ennis struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Midlothian couldn't quite finish off Ennis in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 and fell 6-4. Will Midlothian have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
