The Spring Woods Tigers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 63-17 loss at the hands of Cy-Fair. Spring Woods has struggled against Cy-Fair recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Cy-Fair had a senior duo take command as Trey Owens threw for 218 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes and Connor Porter gained 127 total yards and four touchdowns. Porter was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 66 yards.
Cy-Fair's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Landon Rink and his two sacks.
Spring Woods' defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Sterling (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Cy-Fair, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Spring Woods will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Creek at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cy-Fair, they will be playing at home against Cypress Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on October 28th. Cypress Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 922nd, while Cy-Fair is ranked 238th).
