The Brillion Lions will take on the Reedsville Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brillion has three straight victories, Reedsville has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Brillion will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating New Holstein, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lions came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 8-5 on Monday. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Huskies on their field since May 4, 2021.
Grace Krueger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Krueger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Jana O'Connell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Brillion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Reedsville fell victim to Mishicot and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 16-0.
Brillion's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Reedsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brillion hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Reedsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Brillion's way against Reedsville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Brillion made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
