The Seffner Christian Crusaders will challenge the Sarasota Christian Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sarasota Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Seffner Christian, who comes in off a win.
Seffner Christian is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Orangewood Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Crusaders blew the Rams out of the water with a 49-13 final score. Considering the Crusaders have won three contests by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kenyarda Davis went supernova, rushing for 211 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Keion Moore was another key player, rushing for 88 yards and one score on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Seffner Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Seffner Christian, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Davis, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Sarasota Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Out-of-Door Academy. The Blazers were down 34-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Seffner Christian will have to contain Ben Milliken as he made an impact in Sarasota Christian's last game. He threw for 321 yards and four TDs. Milliken has become a key player for Sarasota Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Colton Loftus was Milliken's top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Even if they lost, Sarasota Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Alex Dominguez was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13.
Sarasota Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Seffner Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Seffner Christian against Sarasota Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 54-13 win. In that game, the Crusaders amassed a halftime lead of 34-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
