Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Big Sandy

Big Sandy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Jaycie Blankenbaker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-6. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played.

In other batting news, Tairia Robinson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skyler Wick, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Big Sandy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .556 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Big Sandy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-13. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Hull-Daisetta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Big Sandy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-0 victory against Spurger on the 8th. As for Hull-Daisetta, they have also already played their next matchup, a 17-0 defeat against Danbury on the 8th.
