The Solvay Bearcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Marcellus Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Solvay, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Marcellus' (thus far) undefeated season.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Solvay, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Oswego.
Meanwhile, Marcellus' game on Friday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 61-54 win over Bishop Ludden.
Marcellus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Kershaw, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kershaw scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Burnett, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Solvay's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Marcellus, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Solvay opened the new year with a less-than-successful 61-49 loss to Marcellus. Will Solvay have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
