The Eagle Academy II Eagle pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 77-55 walloping at the hands of Archbishop Stepinac. While losing is never fun, Eagle Academy II can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Crusaders are ranked first).
Archbishop Stepinac got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Danny Carbuccia out in front who scored 13 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Carbuccia hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jasiah Jervis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Eagle Academy II has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-6 record this season. As for Archbishop Stepinac, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Eagle Academy II does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Archbishop Stepinac won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Lions at 1:00 p.m. on February 4th. Bishop Loughlin has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
