The Havelock Rams's game on January 5th was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 64-63 win over Northside - Jacksonville. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Havelock was led to victory by Jaheim Waller and Chris Strong. Waller scored 18 points, while Strong scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Waller has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Northside - Jacksonville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Xavier Ritter. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with two steals. Ritter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Talan Evans, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Havelock's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Havelock will be playing at home against J.H. Rose at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully J.H. Rose focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Monday. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they will head out on the road to take on New Bern at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully New Bern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
