The Shoemaker Wolves fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over Cleburne. The result was nothing new for Shoemaker, who have now won four contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Shoemaker was led to victory by Tyrieke Wade and Jerrod Hicks-Maddox. Wade rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while Hicks-Maddox rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Brandon Brown, who gained 99 total yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Cleburne saw an underclassman step up: Hayden Leifeste rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Shoemaker is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Cleburne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Shoemaker will head out on the road to face off against Killeen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cleburne, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Waco at 7:00 p.m. Waco has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25th.
