Sagamore Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Rolando Castillo Has Career-Day on Friday
Starting off the list is Frankfort's Rolando Castillo, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Castillo made eight total tackles and defended three passes, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending three passes.
If the past is any indication, Castillo could be in store for another big game when he takes on North Montgomery on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Castillo saw the Chargin' Chargers), he made 14 total tackles and defended a pass.

Walden Posts Huge Game in 70-0 Win
Tri-West Hendricks's three-game losing streak is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Malachi Walden. Walden did his part (and then some), throwing for 95 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing, while also rushing for 53 yards on only six carries for the 'W'. He is becoming a predictor of Tri-West Hendricks' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
North Montgomery's probably not too fond of Walden given he always seems to get the better of them. Walden rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes the last time he and the Chargin' Chargers duked it out back in October of 2023.
