 In other batting news,  Gabe Klug was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. Klug is crushing it when it comes to  stolen bases: he's   stolen at least one every time he's  taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was  Christian Bjerke, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Spring Grove's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mabel-Canton, they  haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Grove will  take on Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. The timing isn't great for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Spring Grove has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Mabel-Canton, they will  square off against Lyle/Pacelli at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Lyle/Pacelli's pitching crew has only allowed 0.8  runs per game  this season, so Mabel-Canton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
