Woodland Hills scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Bethel Park, 38-23. At the time, the Black Hawks were ranked 20th in the state, while the Wolverines were 65th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Woodland Hills, who defeated 20th ranked Bethel Park, 38-23.
Redge Nelson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mt. Lebanon defeated Plum. The 6-foot-1 senior.
Troy Apke was the best receiver in WPIAL AAAA Southeastern this week as the Blue Devils bested the Mustangs. Apke racked up 5 receptions for 88 yards.
Joe Repischak put up the best numbers in passing as Upper St. Clair defeated Peters Township. He finished with 7 completions for 123 yards. Repischak's favorite target this week was Mac Pope, who caught 2 passes for 57 yards.
BILL KISNER was a passing and rushing force as Penn Hills topped Baldwin. He completed 2 passes for 29 yards and also ran for 148 yards.
KISNER was the best running back in the league this week. TE'SHAN CAMPBELL also contributed to the rushing game with 133 yards on the ground.
The Panthers' 6-foot-3 quarterback Repischak is the league leader in passing yards this season with 347. The leading receiver in the league this season is Apke. The Mt. Lebanon star has 12 catches for 153 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Upper St. Clair takes on second place Penn Hills. Last week, Upper St. Clair bested the Indians, while the Indians defeated the Highlanders.
Next week's game between Jim Render's team and Penn Hills will feature an aerial matchup as Repischak tests his arm against SHAWN FEATHERSTONE's defensive ability.
One of WPIAL AAAA Southeastern's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Panthers and John Peterman's team face off next week.
There should be lots of points scored when the Indians and Upper St. Clair face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Penn Hills comes in having scored 99 this season, while the Panthers have scored 104. The Indians scored 37 points last week as they topped Baldwin.
Fans got a thrill when Kellan Stout and Apke connected against Plum. The connection was good for 62 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
