Danbury dropped to 5-8 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 11-3 to the Stamford Black Knights. The Hatters were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Danbury saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dustin Pitti, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jake O'Keefe was another, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
As for Stamford, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.
On Stamford's side, Noe Mercedes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mercedes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Kelsey Jack looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Junior Ozuna and Aidan O'Loughlin did most of the damage at the plate: Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while O'Loughlin got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Ozuna a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Berlingo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Danbury is set to face off against their familiar foe Norwalk at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Stamford will take on rival New Canaan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Black Knights 4, the Rams 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
