Brentwood had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it eight. They fell 7-3 to Sachem East. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Sachem East this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-5 back in April.
Jerelin Bello made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lily Vittorato, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
As for Sachem East, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.
On Sachem East's side, Angelina Cornand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave Cornand a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Emily Beebe was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Gianna Prisco was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Brentwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-0 loss against Longwood on the 13th. As for Sachem East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-3 defeat against Patchogue-Medford on the 12th.
