Two dominant guards in Martin Soria and Zach Story are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Orland Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Plumas is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Las Plumas put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Oroville as Las Plumas made off with a 70-45 victory. With Las Plumas ahead 47-24 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
T.J. Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Casmir Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Orland ended up a good deal behind Gridley on Friday and lost 68-50. Orland has not had much luck with Gridley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Story put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 26 points along with three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Bose, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Las Plumas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Orland, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Las Plumas have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 39.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Orland struggles in that department as they've nailed 38.3% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Las Plumas beat Orland 58-45 when the teams last played last Friday. Will Las Plumas repeat their success, or does Orland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
